I'm also 17, very soon to be 18, and have had my pride and joy for about a year and a half. Nice to see that I'm not the only young blood with a car much older than them. Was going to start out at 16 with a really gutted '70 VW Bug, but I'm quite happy that a friend of the family gave us such a good deal on an 87 eta that let me step up to a much more respectable vehicle from das fatherland. Couldn't be happier.

So how old are e30 owners, and how long have you had your car?

Not being sarcastic, most 17 year olds on car forums come across as complete idiots. You'd be surprised how much more helpful people will be when you correctly articulate your problems.1991 318i SOLD

Hey guys, I'm 49 and bought my first e30 about six years ago. First a brown 88 325 Coupe that got things flowing, followed by my 93 convertible that's my pride and joy. A 87 convertible that became a Hard Top donor and later traded it for a set of BBS RS semi finished rims. My second project is my Son's 88 Coupe that I consider my second e30, he drives it and I work on it and spend money on toys.sigpic

22. I've owned an mtech, ix, eta, and two late coupes. Bought my first (and current) 325is 3 years ago and plan on keeping it for the long haul.
Been doing it on an EXTREMELY tight budget through college and girlfriends. It's been a financial challenge to say the least!1989 325is / 2.7, 274 cam, e30 M3 5-lug

Too old to post age, but...
My first full-time job was at a BMW dealer that was selling 2002, 530i and 3.0CSi.
Bavarias were the cars people were bringing in for service.
Learned to drive a standard in a 2002 cut down into a pick-up by a premiere shop.
So, cars:
1976 Fiat 128: Drive it like you stole it and the cops will never notice. Rusted in half.
1976 Ford Capri 2.3 litre 4. Terrible car mostly, but handled well. Acceleration and snow handling Useless.
1976 Audi Foxes, 2. One auto, one standard. Introduced me to running straight 50 weight and other people's used crankcase oil.
Various Pontiacs: Pretty good, really. Drove them into the ground too.
After the above series, my friends started calling me the Angel of Death for Cars.
Nissan Maximas, '88 and 98. great cars. The no-maintenance maintenace plan really worked. Current DD '08 Altima has a CVT: Avoid at all costs.
Last year bought a rusty 88 325is and brought it back from the dead: New everything mechanical, but sold it after I bought an
'86 320i, M20B20: Came from Serbia in 2008. No rust.
Drive it like you stole it and the cops will never notice.Last edited by SubDad; 11-26-2012, 06:28 PM. Reason: Ad "that was" to first line, to make clear I wasn't a salesman. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
