Well I have a decent offer to buy an e39 M5 and got to take her for a ride today. OM freakin G! I'm in love!! I'll never dis the e30 but boy o boy is that thing a beast!! Esp once you hit the little sport button in the lower console.. Hehe.. Thats the yeeee haaaaw button!! This things got 74k on it 6spd, green exterior, black interior (both mint) the 18" gunmetal grey M5 wheels, the nav ect ect.. It's loaded put it that way. The guy is only askin 10,900 for it. I think I paid more for my 97 e39 528 even! Just tryin to finalize it now so we'll see???? Just had to share that with ya's

Talking about stuff like this before you actually own it is worthless. People are flakes, find other buyers, decide not to sell, financials change etc. Keys in hand, then post.

Great price even for a 2000!

Couple things: all M5's are 6 speeds and will have Nav. (the 01 and up will have the larger screen)

Options that are truely options on the M5:
            fold down rear seat
            parking distance warning
            power rear sun shade

That car is a sport package btw, so that mean you have the different leather seat material (stiffer) and metal trim.
Luxury package got the softer leather, leather dash and wood trim.

Make sure you do a full PPI on it. You don't want to get stuck with issues like the Carbon Build up in the secondary air system.

I'm not a fan of this car, and after driving it for a while once you get used to the power you will see why. Also I'm with Daniel on the price being very low for that car with that low milage.

That does seem like a really low price for an e39 M5. Do you have service records? I hope you are getting it checked out before you buy it. Good luck on the purchase, I hop you get a good deal on it.

Seems like a killer price. Definitely get a full PPI done at either a dealer or a reputable independent shop that knows the newer cars.

As of right now it looks like it's all a go! I am going to have it checked out for sure. BUT if there are any issues and depending on what they might be, I still might end up grabbing it. Just cause of the price. Hmmm would that engine fit in my e30?? lol

The carbon build up is only an issue if you have emissions. It does not affect performance whatsoever.
OP, make sure if you buy it that you spend time doing the cooling system. 5 days after I brought home my project m5 the radiator blew, sending smoke and coolant everywhere :(

They are great cars, and I don't know how anyone could ever get sick of them..
