BTW, they can't handle an E30 with an S50 at a stoplight.
Plugged everything in to get it running...

well I did own a 540/6 and loved that car. But if I had the money, Id still want an M5. For about 20 grand you could own a 97 540/6 and supercharge it! I think they were asking around 60 on that used M5..

got to drive my uncle's e39 m5 for the first time before he sold it a week ago. Okay sorry, it wasn't the first time driving it- anyways it is definately a bad ass car. You dont' have to tell me about the throttle response and the whole 9 yards, i already found that out myself :)
too bad he sold the m5 for a cls500 :( oh well, his plans are to get the m6 next year anyways

I worked as a valet for a few years and got a hold of one of these. The guy was my last car. I chatted with him about it, as it was my dream car, and I was just going to park it out front of the restaurant and give him the keys, but he told me, "Hey, I've got a lady friend in there that's gonna keep me a while, why don't you take it out for a spin?"
Go ahead and throw up the BS flag, I don't care. Some people are like that. Anyways, I didn't take it out for long, but I got it on a back alley in Boston, and came to a stop at one end, then tested out the 0-60 under 5 seconds. It was accurate, for sure. Never had a car pin me like that under acceleration, while still staying calm and making it seem effortless.
A badass car, but you just don't get the same driver's feel for the road, or the car itself. Everything feels phoned in. Too electronic for me to put down that kind of money. I'll stick to an E34. Was a close second as favorite BMW until I drove an e39 M5, now it's first :)
