You mericans should learn where to go in the nordschleife, the best part of the track is not the F1 track, ask around and go to the pflanzgarten jump and from there on foot you can easily reach the mini-karussel (to the pflanzgarten jump you need to go to the fuel pumps and follow that road in the opposite direction to the F1 track, then there'll be a exit to your left, i got lost the last time cause i entered the wrong exit so ask around), go to Adenauer forst and then on foot you can reach Fuchsröhre (in adenau, go up the street opposite the VW dealership and in the end you'll find a school to your left, go inside the gate if it's open and all the way up that road till you see the second open ground to your left, park there and you're in Adenauer Forst) or before Ex-Mühle you go up near the brigde in Adenau and keep going till the tight left hander.

These are the best viewing points in nordschleife in my opinion so here are my 0.02$. I'll try to post a picture with a road map here so you can guide yourself better.

wow man thanks. see the problem was that the only German speeking person we had was a girl and getting her to go anywere on foot was a problem. as a matter of a fact if it wasnt for her, we would of probably stayed there till about 12 am or so, but I do agree, the best parts of the track are up at the Norther section, you sound like uve been there like a billion times. is there LEGAL parking anywere there or what? and you mentioned that if you walk from the fuel pumps, the ones behind the Pit lane right? so if I were to walk around would i get into the wooded area and the good parts of the track?

I was only there the last 3 years, once a year but really loved it and got really into the place ;)

There is legal parking in lots of places but it must be crowded this time of year so you just have to look, if you go in the Pflanzgarten area, near the B412 road, in the right of the map, there is a very large space where you can probably find parking. Don't walk from the fuel station, it's far.

But as the race finished, just go to Nürburg and keep on the main road, you'll pass the BMW M testcenter on your left if you come from the GP track and when you reach the roundabout you can park and just buy the ticket and go for a lap.

If you can, ask the reception (I think one speaks english) for a lap in the ringtaxi, it's expensive but worth it, especially with sabine ;) , she is married by the way They are usually booked for a year but if you can find a quiter, you're in.

Now, in the week, it's only open to the public from 5 to 7 pm, the rest is for testing so you can always watch. I'd advise you to go to Adenauer Forst and the one over Adenau first, they're the easiest to get to and really good ones too. For the other, just go by car in the road i mencioned before and park near the open space, in the map, the orange road almost meets the red one that is the track, that is the point where you can probably park and go to the track.

And above all, have fun ;)

From the sounds of it, several of BMW's engineers that were at this race were sent to Barcelona for the F1 race.

                      Sweet pictures.
