Personally, Stig doesnt mean anything to Top Gear imho.
Sure he would rip on the cars for maybe 1-2 minutes a show just for the comparison... but overall, Jeremy Clarkson is the whole shabang.

Sad for the loss of life, but the show is stil the same.
    Below the radar...

thats a pretty screwed up way to go.....i was never feeling the new Top Gear....the new format sucked...Fifth Gear rips it now.

in bad taste, but flexing a car on an aircraft carrier has to put you in line for a Darwin award dont it??

Kind of unbelievable in my book.....why would anyone test a car on an aircraft carrier?!??! He'll probably turn up on Fifth Gear ;)

It must be at the begining of that episode because I have the video and it starts where they introduce the new Stig.

                            the Stig didnt REALLY die...
it was a publicity Stunt to let Perry Macarthy (the Stig) off to do something else (test driving for more money)
The Stig from BBC's Top Gear programme, Perry Macarthy talks to Simon Baldock about Formula One, test driving and his new book.

One man who has experienced the highs, and more particularly the lows of Formula 1 is Essex based racing driver Perry Macarthy. Test Driver for Benetton, Arrows and Williams, he's taken part in the 24 hour Le Mans race he's great mates with Damon Hill and has now written a book called "Flat Out Flat Broke" about what life is really like as a F1 driver.
Fans of the BBC's Top Gear programme might know him better as the Stig , the mystery driver who test drives all the top of the range supercars on the programme.
if you watch the video, when they go to shoot 'off the side of the carrier' there is a cheesy shot of his lone glove being 'all thats left'

Any idea of how fast he was going when he hit the water? I'd think that if he slowed down enough and was able to get through hitting the water falling from the height of the aircraft carrier deck, that he could have simply rolled down the windows, opened the door, and escaped. Of course, it was a Jag, so the electrical system probably went haywire, jamming the windows.

Do you have a link to a news article?

                              RIP, Stig.
Of course, at the rate modern aircraft carriers go, he would be underneath the carrier before he'd be able to get out...
