E30 Vs. E28

M20 was/is outdated. But a m50 swap into an e28 is definitely possible. It uses same motor mounts as e30 most likely.Leave a comment:

I'm not really bitching about it, I'm just saying it how it is. I love the m20, but it has its flaws. I'm not in the 'god's chariot' crew.Leave a comment:

then go drive an e36.
170hp and 25mpg is pretty decent. if you want to bitch about it. go ahead. no one really cares.
so what if a corvette, 400hp, gets 29mpg on the highway. and yes, they are more fun to drive. and if you think that is so great. go buy one and quit complaining.
if i could only have 1 car, i'd pick an e30 over a vette. over a much larger picture, that includes fun, mpg, practicality, cost of maintenance, insurance, etc., the e30 is a better car for me to own.Leave a comment:

Talk about a beautiful car. Good price too.
BTW let's make this a poll.Leave a comment:

My e28 will murder my e30 alpina 2.7. Never under estimate the power of a proper built M30 engine. My e28 now as is has that much power and torque, it's hard to keep it straight with the 9.5inch Alpina wheels and thats with new tyres. They're a magnificent car! God bless them.If you are saying a e30 with the 2.7 is slow, and that a e28 will be even slower.
Then I am saying, that I dont care. Any car can be driven fast. Those cars I referenced above are a citroen 2cv, a saab 95 wagon (ford V4), and a four pot Alfa Romeo Alfetta sedan.
E28s will surely be funLeave a comment:

Obviously you've done some other things to your car then. That's fine, but I'm not here for a dick-measuring contest. The reality is that a stock-ish m20b25 will typically get under 20 mpg city, and a larger/heavier m30 will likely earn itself 15 mpg or less when driven in the same manner..which imo isn't justifiable to the relatively low power outputs of the motors. My two cents.
That said, Id be down for a 528e.Leave a comment:

No worries, I will have some videos posted up sometime in the near future. It isn't an M5 killer by any means, but it certainly has the potential to piss off a lot of 24v owners..I don't think you're understanding me. Acceleration and efficiency are completely different things.
Also, I have done several mods to my white car and I can't get 6 sec range 0-60 times or 28 mpg. I believe a manual 3:73 manual b25 from the factory was rated at 7.6 sec to 60...so unless your auto is truly automagic, neither are you.Leave a comment:

But you keep using the words 'fast' and 'slow.' I'm talking about relative hp vs mpg, and the 12vs come up short.Leave a comment:

Brian is making quite alot of power for what his motor is. More soon to come.I don't think you're understanding me. Acceleration and efficiency are completely different things.

And also I understand what you are saying about efficiency.
And an old BMW is an old BMW. E28s would still be better than any honda..Leave a comment:

I would say you can definitely feel the e30 being more nimble but having all that space in the e28 makes it a great cruiser. Imagine the e30 being the rice rocket and the e28 being the street/touring combo IMHO.Leave a comment:
