Ive SEARCHED the forum over. No answer to HU (stereo) removal question

    Hey, thanks for reading!

I have a 87 325is with an aftermarket Alpine 9383. I'm trying to remove it and install or have installed into my 90 325i.

I can't get the damn thing out. I've searched and read about the 2mm allen wrench but I cant see it and I really don't think it is there. What I see is a whiteish metal box with apparent clips on it. I have visualized this white metal box as one I believe is just like it was in the floor of my 90 i, post stereo-junkie-ripoff where my car was stored at a shop.

I cannot figure out how to get the HU out. I'm not a total dickhead under the hood, or the chassis for that matter but I have never touched a stereo.

Any suggestions on how to just get the damn HU out?

        ^ that's completely overkill.

have you tried a simple 4lb mini sledge?

On a serious note, I will eventually have to ask this question on the forums too. I secured my HU in the other day, and I was thinking how I would ever get it out......

Same here haha, installing audio left me more clueless than swapping out my head gasket!

Man I hate anything having to do with electronics. Im much more comfortable just pounding, cutting, and welding something till it works.

Interior stuff is most easily answered by downloading the e30 bentley.

I have a Bentley, in print form. Its an aftermarket radio and I do not visualize the 2mm screws.

Ive tried flat heads to pop the metal clip-like indentions around the white metal box. Ive tried flat heads in the slots behind the faceplate on the HU.

Ive tried cussing and ... even a little begging. No luck.

Should it be this friggin hard???? dayum
