I'm confused why you wrote AS IS on the bill of sale, if at the instant he whines a bit you bend over backwards for him.

I hope you learned a really valuable lesson here...and honestly if you learn something as important as this...that people will ALWAYS try to fuck you over, then I would be happy that you only lost $150 and not $150 000 in some sort of a huge scam.

This is what I was thinking, I wanted to come up with an agreement that would leave us both satisfied. I just got a new job witch pays decent, I live at home still to save money, so my monthly expenses is like $350, I can spare the extra money if that means it makes him happy.

I just bought a $550 car. I expected it come with an engine, transmission and everything an automobile IDEALLY has that generally makes up a bunch of metal and plastic into a car. I also expected it to have problems, but it to be in the condition of the description at the time of the sale, and at that time only.

Poor business ethics on your end, especially as a 20 year old if I do recall reading that correctly, what are you thinking giving money away. Take note of this event and grow some.

I bought my car for 850 and it didn't have rear brakes AT ALL driving it home. Do you think I could have sued the seller if I got in an accident? Maybe, but I would bet I wouldn't win. But I'd be a pretty big douche asking them for a handout. Similar situation. Plus the water pump pulley on my car snapped after a couple weeks. It was because of their neglect but it obviously becomes the buyer's problem.

While I don't disagree that the car was bought as-is and it's shady giving anyone back money after they drove away, claim it broke, ect, it doesn't make you a tool. I would have driven out and tried to help him fix it and if nothing else, $50.00 at most. I think $150.00 was a bit excessive on your end to give back, but, kudo's too you, man.

I bought a car for $3,000, explicitely asked if there was any rust issues beyond what he'd told me, and the guy bold faced lied saying the trunk area was it. 2 months later I find the entire driver's side is pretty much crushed in, fiber glassed over, ect. This guy who yeah, legally had no obligations towards it was still a giant piece of shit and a liar to boot. You're not this guy. Congrats.
