    Exchanged rides with a 6-throttle E36 318

A guy I met about a year ago named Alan has a '92-'95 red 318is coupe. He, like me, ditched the lowly M42 in favor of a 3.0L M3 engine...except he sprung for the European 6-butterfly S50. He also has Bilstein coilovers, 18" Hammans, and other bits. Very sexy car. Extremely sexy.

I ran into him tonight on the road, so we pulled over at his friends house. We looked at each others motors, and we decided to take each other for rides in our 300hp 318's. 8)

I took him first. Did my business, then we went back and jumped in his car.

My first impressions of his were the engine sound. There is no mistake that he has solid lifters turning 7500rpm under the hood!!!! The sound is fricking amazing.

It pulled hard in the midrange, though it felt a little soft compared to my motor (with the fuel PSI setup the way it is), but up top.......WAAAAAAA!!!! It pulled so hard to the redline in each gear!!! I loved it!

We are going to line them up sometime, not sure when. Maybe we'll get out on the track (VIR) together in the Spring. :)

He put 260 to the rear wheels on a chassis dyno. I have an appointment to dyno mine on Friday, so I will let you guys know how things are going in my corner. 8)

I will try desperately to get pics of his E36. It is extremely clean and the drop of the coilovers (how he has them set) is enough to make even TJ piss himself. :D

i've seen his car before, looks pretty nice.

are you sure his car only feels stronger up top because you're so used to the killer low end of the mchenry motor?

So which do you sispect is faster? Cars always feel faster in the passenger seat. You going to take your car to Rockingham?

What's at Rockingham, the circle track? I know they used to have BMW DE's there but I think they filled the in-field to allow for more parking. Bastards.

I hope to do a DE this Spring with my brother and some of his friends. Rob, you should come. 8)

260whp is on an internally stock S50 B30 Euro. It does have some sort of cone-filter setup with a heatshield, and a Supersprint center-section with a Rogue muffler. I suspect part of the HP jump is due to the deletion of the cats.

I cannot say enough about the sound of the engine.

yea the sound is sweet, I love it do death, and eveybody I know loves it,
When I had the absolutely open exhaust at WOT is was a insane, gurgling at part throttle and rumbling at very little throttle, but loud,

did you get the torque figurea at all and at what rpm“s ??

I've heard a euro 6 pot, the sound is completely different than the US motor.

Let's drive fast and have fun.

i've personally seen the car and seen it run at VIR during club days...and it's quite the car....the sound(atleast from outside the car) with the RE or UUC(whatever it is) double barrel muffler is gorgeous.

                    for your viewing pleasure...
