Since it sounds like you don't really know anything about these cars you might be better off buying one in better shape than trying to fix a bunch of issues all at once.

88 is when it merged, pretty much a late model with DB's.

I ran the smog history for you, it hasn't been smogged since 01

So it will need a smog and hopefully he non-op'd the car or you'll be looking at some dmv back fees when you go to register the car.

Sitting that long for sure it's going to need a timing belt and water pump.

May be some other issues if the gas has been sitting that long as well.

youll find that these cars are money pits. i picked up my is for 1800 and have put well more than that back into it. so if your buying it for $1000 chances are you are going to put more money in it. not saying everything is going to fail, but little things willl come up. and those add up. like new hoses, tires, timing belt, leaks. etc

Smog and current reg. , smog is anywhere at 50-70 , current reg gunna be at least 80, theres the transfer fee thats gunna cost you like 20 bux or so. Thats if its non opp. If its not then your pain for all the years it wasnt paid for.

now they said they could go and take it off non op'd or he said he would go check into it so would that just mean they will pay for all those years it sat and when i go in to register it i just have to pay for the transfer title fee and to register it in my name correct?

car still needs to be smogged regardless. If you get it you can get it taken off non op. What if it was never on non op and you get up with 300 at the dmv , that would suck.

oh okay so basically if the car is non op'd then when i get it to register it i take it off non op'd and i wont have to pay alot of fees correct? sorry im just trying to fully understand this.

and if the owner says it runs fine and starts up do i have to worry about it sitting for 2 years like about the fuel and stuff what problems could come about?
