    New steering wheel install

I've searched the forums/internet and can't find out the proper way to install a new steering wheel. When you remove an old one, you mark it so you know the proper alignment when you put it back in.

How do you know if your new steering wheel is centered?

Just make sure your wheel is strait before you take it off.

I was hoping for some $500 magic BMW tool which ran on unicorn shit to properly align the steering wheel. But I guess carrying a ratchet will have to do.

I have a magical tool which runs on Unicorn shit which I'll be happy to sell you. $500.00 and it's yours. But you'll need the adapter to run it on unleaded Unicorn shit. That's another $125.00...

...but seriously, it's like 2 seconds to remove the thing, unless you have an airbag model.

and then you sinply don't install the damn airbag until you are happy with the alignment.

BTW: I do have several grams of unicorn shit for sale...the good stuff with the sparkly crystals all over it...

Turn the wheel from lock to lock counting the rotations. Divide that number by two. Turn the wheel away from one lock with the new number. Remove old wheel and install new one. Pat self on back for being a genius.

you will know the wheel is or isn't centered. it will be obviously at an angle when you drive straight.. it's not rocket science.

the L to L method might not work if it turns further in one direction than the other, which is quite common.
