cheapest place for an e34 hood roundel

need to get a hood roundel for my dad's '95 525i... weird part is, his seems like it was two pieces... a plastic base, that held the roundel like it was a sticker... not painted like the one on my e30... :confused"

anyway, he needs a new base as well since the edge is kinda chipped up a bit

    linkie?
    thank ya 8)

nah, it's weird... his definitly has a plastic base to it that encased a roundel "wafer" that is typically painted on to ours.... his didn't chip or anything, the entire roundel just flew off one day... really weird

right now he's driving around w/ my old one w/ magic marker on it ... the black border & "BMW" is still painted on it, just the blue/white area chipped off, so he magic markered in the blue areas w/ black  ;)

EDIT: someone look up this part number... it's on the bottom of the plastic part: 51.14-8 132 375

i'll probably just end up driving up to bav auto or something, but i'm just curious as to wtf is goin on w/ this weird roundel

I told you, bavarian autosport.. that's the exact part # they have. Go to their site, choose your BMW (1995 525i) and when it goes back to the front page, the roundel is the first item on the list. Don't forget the grommets! :)

yeah, i just realized it listed the pt number :? oh well, i'm a dumbass

it's just baffling me why mine is metal & this one is two-piece plastic

right underneath the pt number it even says ABS on it... as in ABS plasitc " >ABS-PC< "

maybe it's a cheap knockoff part? no idea. every roundel I've ever seen was made out of metal.

                    2002's are metal.
E21's & E30's are all plastic, as are all models after that.

I guess it is plastic.. I just gouged the back of my old chipped one to see. it just feels heavy because of the chrome plating.

Yep, I replaced mine about a month ago, they're plastic. They just look metal, they aren't. ;)

I replaced my roundels with some aftermarket ones. The front was an attempted robbery, but they couldnt take the whole thing, only the roundel was removed and the silver base was left (base was plastic, OEM BMW).
The rear was a bitch to remove. Once I removed it I realized it was a metal base. Still have it right here. OEM BMW, the original car emblem. Its heavy too. My replacement roundel was just plastic.

                          My E30 is a 1989 325i Sedan too :)

There was a discussion on this a while back on another forum. I think it was decided that older BMW models came from the factory with metal roundels, but BMW switched all replacements over to plastic sometime during the past few years.
