I'm pretty sure the M42 isn't in this book...you have to buy the E36 model bentley to get detailed stuff on the M42. Lots of other stuff from the E30 manual is transferable though, so still a good idea to get it.

You don't have to...I'm just saying that some cock-knuckle over at Bentley forgot to put our car's M42 engine info in there...so if you're looking for M42 specific stuff, like in this case, you won't find it in the E30 book.
