Do you know what this relay controls ?

Just figured out that the orange relay in this picture was unplugged & i plugged it back in . Now there is a hissing noise coming from near the thermostat , it sounds like a vacuum hose . Noise also coming from rear of vehicle .

Those are the main relay, fuel pump relay, and o2 sensor heater.

Fuel pump, the hissing is the fuel going throught the fuel pressure regulator.

Will the car run with out it? Sounds like the relay is stuck, take it apart and look at the contacts if they are closed/stuck pry them apart, get/try a different relay. If all is OK then something is giving it power to turn on. GL

Nope, the car starts w/o the relay , but turns off in a few seconds because theirs not fuel being pumped into the engine .
Alright , I will take the relay apart and check the contacts tomorrow .
If all that fails , i'll just buy a new fuel pump relay hopefully that's the problem.
Thank you , I will let you know how it goes

had the same problem last week.. it turned out to be the main relay, the one on the left, that had fused the contacts... replaced the fuel pump relay and it kept doing the same thing, continuos running of the fuel pump.. changed out the main relay and all is well... Cracked open the main relay and found the contacts welded together... cheap german parts.. after only 26 years the damm thing went out...
