and gas prices are not going up because of inflation. it's the other way around. part of the reason for higher gas prices is increased demand, but also instability in key oil producing nations (russia, venezuela) and lack of refining capacity. plus speculation (some people can make a lot of $$ if gas prices go up). higher prices also reduce demand....
lastly, there is still TONS of oil and gas on the planet. cahomey is right, we'll destroy our ecosystem with CO2 emissions long before we run out of oil. don't buy into everything you read on the internet or see on TV..
Global demand is increasing.
Exxon et al are not patriots. They will sell to the highest bidder, and we will have to pay if we want it.
Over the long term, experts say China's energy appetite will only continue to expand. If its oil demand keeps growing at an average rate of 7% a year, as it has since 1990, the country in less than 20 years will be consuming 21 million barrels a day—matching the current consumption of the U.S. "There's a big question mark as to whether that's sustainable," says Wu.
For now, though, the world is able to produce enough oil to accommodate the Middle Kingdom. "The world has the oil, and China has the money," says Chen Huai of the Development Research Center, a think tank in Beijing run by China's Cabinet. The question is: How much is China—and the world—willing to pay for it?Comment

im glad that you haven't forgotten about that...for those of you that think this shit is fake..think again. Logically speaking our oil will eventually be fully depleted...and for us young folk that shit will happen in our lifetime...and it most certainly won't be easy or fun or as delightful as life is today..
we need to learn to become more self-sufficient and more efficient.IG: deniso_nsi Leave me feedback here

I'd have to drive the shit out of my car to get 26mpg. I get more like 29 city/ 35 highway. I'm driving to Lake Shasta from Eugene in about an hour (275 miles) and I wont even use 10 gallons of gas.Originally posted by Grueliusand i do not know what bugg brakes are.Comment

It's quite sad that they used the figures for 333i from South African car magazine, cause everyone over here knows that u chop a second off that time, and thats about the right 0-100km/h time, for the car. It has been proven time and time again, their testers just don't know how to drive, plain and simple

Interesting. Those numbesr say our e30 325i's are faster then e36's all around

Yeah, this was covered way back when in a pretty good article. I forget where. Basically it has to do with power curves. THe 325i has a nice wide power curve where as a S14 powered M3 has a high spike at higher rpms. So from a stand still the 325i will own... from a rolling start at about 3000 rpms the M3 will speed off to the girlfriends house, get a quick fuck, and get back before the 325i will know what happened. Figuratively speaking of course.Originally posted by Jon325iYeah....but one of them is the most winningest touring car of all time and has retained remarkable resale value. The other, well.....
Don't let these pamphlet PhD's scare you. Oil is fine, we aren't going to run out. We haven't built a refinery since the 1970's (i think... i know its been a good long while) to keep up with demand. Gas is expensive in Europe because they tax the hell out of everything. Gas in America would be a hell of a lot cheaper if hippies didn't have a hard on for ethanol which does nothing (it costs just as much energy to produce it as it may potentially save, and it makes up as much as half the cost of gasoline). Then typically add another 50+ cents for state, local and federal taxes. That's how you get to the magical $2.20+/gallon.Originally posted by enercityreading all that stuff about the oil crisis and crap makes me really sad and scared. and my mom is really religious and has been scaring me about all the world ending since I was like 5. Gas will never be too expensive for me. Internal combustion engines give me wood. Big displacement, high reving engines make me pop. Voltage is for pussies. Bachelor's in physics, Master's in Nuclear Engineering. Be very very quite... Im hunting hippies.Comment

Don't you just love how inline-6s can be just as fuel efficient as japanese 4's? Me on the other hand gave up that a long time ago. I only believe in WOT and still manage about 19mpg in the city and something like 25-28 on the highway in my E46 325xi. I get about 350 miles out of a tank a gas. Fill up once every 9 days.Comment

I don't get that good of gas mileage; I'm pretty sure my mileage is around 27mpg. I haven't driven the car in a long while though. The BMW 318 is back. With a vengeance.Comment
