I think it's funny that the ix's MPG is rated at 19/21 but I've never seen less than 21 and I've had upwards of 26.
and the "oil crash" is bull hooey. witness what happened last time our oil prices spiked suddenly (we are still nowhere near the levels reached in the 1970s and 1980s), suddenly fuel efficient japanese cars became really popular, and oil prices came back down.. hrm.
my car is supposed to get 21/23 and that seems about right for me. i average about 21, but i do a lot of city driving. nando, how do you get such good gas milage?
It's only a matter of time.
Limited supply + Increasing demand(for applications automotive and other) =
$$$ / Gal.
We will kill ourselfs and or inhabit space before we run out of oil.
gas is only increasing in price because of inflation. And because we will pay whatever they want.
edit: also don't compare our prices with europe. They have a totaly different economic structure.

except for history tells us that people will start using something else when prices start going up. people aren't stupid. SUV sales are already way, way down and hybrid sales are way, way up.
and gas prices are not going up because of inflation. it's the other way around. part of the reason for higher gas prices is increased demand, but also instability in key oil producing nations (russia, venezuela) and lack of refining capacity. plus speculation (some people can make a lot of $$ if gas prices go up). higher prices also reduce demand....
lastly, there is still TONS of oil and gas on the planet. cahomey is right, we'll destroy our ecosystem with CO2 emissions long before we run out of oil. don't buy into everything you read on the internet or see on TV..
I really envy the way europe deals with oil, how it might be like $6 a gallon but it covers like alot of their taxes and then people get small fuel efficent cars not H2's and SUV's, Its one of the few things i cant stand about the United States,
but oil isnt going to suddenly dry up, it will cost more but we still have like tons in texas and alaska we havent used because its alot cheaper to import it. But its not going to get any better you're right
Hmmm.....21/23mpg for the US spec 325i. Well factor in my 4.10LSD, JC chip and heavy right foot and I know for a fact I'm not getting anything close to those numbers :nice:

It figures, they only show the 318is as the E36, no E30 numbers, I guess I can just figure the numbers are a little better for the E30 (lighter than the E36)
