    85 318i Opinions

So I want to know what everyone thinks about the 85 318i. Im mainly looking for some cheap reliable transportation to get me through this school year until I can replace the motor with an m50 next summer. But first a few questions. You think its a worthwhile investment? THe car appears to be in pretty good shape. No rust, paint a little faded, motor and interior look good. How much do you think the swap will cost when performed at a shop? Id do it myself but I dont really have access to the garage space. Thanks guys and let me know what you think.

If you're planning to swap at any point, the early 318 is what you want to go with. It's the lightest of the US e30s... by several hundred pounds.

do the m20 engine and tranny bolt up using m20 engine mounts in a early 318?

Yeah Ive heard they are the lightest by far. Seemed like a solid option economically until I can do the motor swap for the good gas milage. Im assuming since it was an m10 that it wasnt really abused either. Should I be worried with reliability issues seeing as its a 20 year old car?

          No non-M3 E30 is a worthwhile investment.

              haha i love mine

im going to drive this thing into the ground and i have a feeling that its going to a while before that. ive driven this car with barely any oil for days (when i first bought it) and its still running strong getting 26-28 mpg months later.
