Glad to hear it. I just noticed the thread but that car actually isn't a '69. It's a re-VIN of a newer car.

A '69 is a Mk II which should have quite a few features that are missing in the car in question. It should have the external door hinges as well as the sliding windows. See pic below for what an actual Mk II would look like.



There's nothing wrong with a re-VIN (actually it's a good way of getting a Mini with some modern conveniences that would otherwise be impossible to get here), but you should know exactly what it is when you purchase it.

I remember I looked at an older one in like 2004, and it was much nicer in photos...
It was caged, interior stripped, rusty, and ran kinda dodgy.
They wanted like $6k? I can't remember, but it was too much.

I bought my 92 (titled as '76) for $3500. VERY nice. BRG, RHD (automatic) :(

Checkerboard vinyl (removeable) ok. But other than that, keep it stock. Especially one that nice.

Oh yeah old skool Mini's are the shit!
Growing up in Europe I was exposed to them early on and liked them instantly.
Hell they used to race them in my town on snow and ice! :p
Always one of the cars I want to own one day.

Buddy of mine that i bought my M3 from has a fully restored one, not sure of the exact year though.

Sorry, when I'm driving mine at 70 mph on the highway, I have more important things to worry about than dying in it. Like how the hell having so much fun can be legal.

I love vintage Austin Minis and serously considered buying one 2 or 3 years back. But I was discouraged from doing so by a bunch of Mini owners I know. The car really isn't weatherproof, which may not be an issue in SoCal, but is a real problem in the Northeast. Same for rustproofing. More important, they're real deathtraps. I wouldn't be comfortable running one on the highways around here with all the tractor trailers and SUVs on the road.
