I kinda don't really know anything about it or how to play/join/etc.

I thought about that as well, but they using the same format as bridgestone so you won't see them at the same races as they will have a gap in tire compounds. Soft and Hard at one race or Super-Soft and Medium at another, which may be why they are so similar, the option will be red or yellow and the prime white or silver.

I think Bridgestone's just putting a green stripe on the softer tire OF THE WEEKEND seems a bit more practical.

I concur it is easier to understand the Bridgestone way, specifically on race day. But for fans like me that want to know almost everything that is going on, it is useful to see during practice and the like which compounds people are actually on.
