Very good race esp for Spain. DRS didnt seem to much of a factor. Weber continued his tradition of poor starts, and Alonso looked like he was shot out of a cannon.
The onboards of Vettel were really interesting to me as you could really notice the end plates move up and down relative to his speed, amazing testament to Newey as no one seems to be able to copy it, or improve on it.
Schu was respectable, and man does he get off the line quick every race.
Massa needs to get his act together or he is going to be out of the sport at the end of this year.Comment

I absolutely think you are spot on. With the harder tires you might as well watch GP2, as they are turning the times from last year.
F1 is really in a tough spot with the depednency on aero like it is. I agree with ferrari where the aero really is way to heavily weighted compared to mechanical grip, plus the aero cant be translated to road cars. So what do you do? Going to a universal chassis cant be an option, maybee put limits on the amount of downforce a car can create, while loosening restrictions on engine and other types of mechanical development? Or you could change things like tire compuond and moveable wings to create artifical passing. I really dont know what the solution is but I do kow I would like to see the engine freeze lifted, and am totaly against a turbo 4banger that will be rev limited to 12k and make one hundred less hp then the current formula. I think they should just put out a max displacement, bring back re-fueling and let the chips fall where they may. Let the manufacturers choose what direction they want to go. I think if you did this you would see some really great racing.
And great racing does not have to mean a lot of passing...... If all I want to see is passing I will watch NASCAR which is the most fixed( yellow flags to bunch the field, bump drafting etc) form of racing out there.Comment

I want to see an F1 go to a salary cap formula. The bottom 50% of the grid never even have a legitimate shot at anything, and they never will as long as the current system continues.
So a HARD salary cap (no luxury tax/overspending). So this is what I want.
1. Keep the two compound spec tire thing.
2. Overall dimension limits.
3. No refueling (it really adds a lot of expense and danger to pit stops, without much of a strategic effect)
4. UNlimited development on drivetrains. In other words, if you want to run an 8L V20, you can. A small displacement, high pressure turbo engine, you can.
5. Aero/active suspension/etc all becomes unlimited/allowed.
I leave Aero available because now teams would have a certain development budget and would be forced to choose between further Aero enhancements, or better suspension, or more HP, etc.
I think that a salary cap with loose technical regulations is the only way to get F1 back to the true forefront of technology, without it becoming an Arms race between the few teams who can afford the extra development.Need parts now? Need them cheap? steve@blunttech.com

I wish that they were still planning on having ground effect aero changes in 2013, that to me seemed to be the answer and has slightly more to do with road cars.
For Monaco I wonder if Red Bull will choose not to run KERS ala Melbourne.Comment

I would imagine they will run it as it is currently working, at least for 10 laps at a time. If they can get it to work for just the start of the race it would be worth it. Monaco could be a crazy race with traffic and tires going off. I imagine at least one car into the armco barrier at some point.Comment

It was Sergio Perez from Sauber Ferrari, was on the outside of the line coming out of the tunnel and lost it. Same place Nico Rosberg lost it during practice but he missed the barriers. Totally destroyed the car and hit the barrier sideways at least over 200kph. They are getting ready to restart again...
Hope he's okay. They were saying that he was speaking so that is a good sign
