Haha, your headunit was only $200. Weak.

J/K... I know how that is, sort of. I had my old car vandalized by some waffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswaffles thugs from a nearby hood. They threw stones at my car and keyed my hood. Busted windshield, dented and keyed hood, and nothing but higher rates for me. Police came out to take a report, what a fuckin joke. Just a hassle and waste of time. Now I live in a nice neighborhood where I can leave my doors open and still have nothing to worry about.

My final words... I dont personally believe in karma, but the people responsible for this will get what they deserve.

My friends 90 325i has been broken into 5 times now. After the last time where they broke the drivers side window, momo wood steering wheel, ignition switch etc he started to leave the keys in the ignition and the door unlocked. Unless he was leaveing it for a cupple of days he would not take the keys. If they wanted the car that bad they could have it. He would get it back when the cops find it.

Yea it sucks but there is not alot you can do to stop them.

True, unless you've got a neighbor who is a cop or a readily loaded shotgun and a silent alarm of some kind.

that would be nice. if I am to ever see anyone eyeing my car too closely again here I will defintely get on them about it. It might be a lot more of an inconvience, but maybe I'll park in a different garage each night.

Oh yeah, accepting paypal donations for my new window fund if anyone is feeling generous. SR20Fastback@yahoo.com is my paypal address.

thanks for all the kind words everyone.

Yeah, that sucks ass man, when my old car was broken into they got my $900 head unit (was replaced by Eclipse) and about $500 worth of "sound tech" tools. But when I got my Bimmer, first thing I did was put in a high $ alarm with keyless entry.
The reason for the keyless was so I could make the doors unopenable without the keys. What I did was I removed the stock lock pull, cut the threaded shaft, then put a collar on the now shortened shaft. I then took a brass tube and installed an LED on top and slipped that down to rest on the collar. (pics below). This way I can still lock the door from inside if need be, (don't really need to because my alarm system auto locks the doors when the car is turned on) But there is no way someone can unlock the door and open it. When the doors are locked, the LED if flush(it's also hooked up to the alarm and blinks when armed). And even if someone were able to get ahold of it and pull up, it would just pull the brass tube out, but not unlock the door. They would have to crawl through the broken window while the alarm is going off. I also installed 2 "pain generating" sirens inside (trust me they are loud as f@#k). But, there is no sure fire way to keep people out, but do what you can to discourage a thief.
*edit* (The alarm also pages me)

Buy a house, park in the garage.

                        Best solution.

And.........drag the house around with you when you're out (I live in a house). I go downtown Dallas all the time, parking garages are the worst place for theft.

I agree, once you're in the garage got nothing to worry about; no one to look at you so you can take your time and really part the car. Especially if the home owner is out of town.

I rarely leave my car anywhere for extended periods of time. The only place my car sits for a long period is at work (where I can see it) or at home.

But ur right, when ur out its possible to get broken into also. For this reason I usually dont drive when i go see movies, or anywhere that required parking my car in the open. If i do i dont play my system for any one to hear.
