UUC if you can find a decent price on one. Try to find someone with a SSK in an e36 and try it out, in fact, try as many different ones as you can. People like different things in an SSK so there isn't one answer for everyone.

Wow. Looks very nice. Youll be wanting to get an E30 again at some point. It always happens when people move to E36's from what Ive seen and all the people Ive known whove done the same as you. Not the same driving experience. Youll have the best of both worlds when (if) you have both. Power and cushyness, plus driver feel and a car you can truly throw around. Thats what Im told anyways from these dudes. Looks nice. I love Alpinweiss. :)

a friend of mine has polished LTW wheels and in pics they always appear to be almost chrome, but in person they look sick.

agreed, they look awesome in person, got the car today and i loveeeeee it... i had to move my e30 into another bay in the garage after i drove the M3 and the differences in the clutches is amazing. i was really winding up the engine in the e30 after driving the e36... all in all, the car is great...

Hate to see another fall to the E36, but if there were no more E30's left on the earth, that's what I'd be driving.

I like the white. And the rims aren't THAT bad...at least they'er LTW's. But no chrome is better. The yellow fogs are kinda cool, but that's a personal preference. Sell them and get regular ones - don't scrape off the laminex.

And at least you aren't buying an AMERICAN car like the guy above...c'mon, germans do it best, can anyone really argue? Find me an american car with almost 300K you'd drive more than a few hours on a trip.

Well, lets be a little more open minded about what certain peoples tastes might be. Some people want more "affordable" power which American cars are starting to do well again, and some people want high HP high TQ straight line power, again, where Americans shine. Another thing to consider is the $$$/HP ratio on modding a BMW is BY FAR the weakest when compared to Jap/American cars. Its tough to get 400 HP out of a BMW without breaking the bank, in turn the Americans and Japanese parts give you more gains for less money, which some people value, which ever the reason may be, be it availability of parts in the aftermarket, or what not. One must respect this point of view, even if its not shared by all. No? True that interiors materials and build quality are sub-par, but everyone knows that and thats why they are more afforadable. I dont think we'll even be seeing many 300K mile BMWs anymore due to the rediculous overengineeering and computerization of these cars. Plus they arent built like E28 5ers anymore, theyre made to last 100K+ and then have the owner come back and trade it in for something else. If you build a car TOO well, you screw yourself business wise cuz you wont get shit to break and come back for repairs and other cars, IMO. I doubt its a very official decision, but thats the only way to explain the pile of shit that is the E36 and the E46 ( I know cuz my brother has one and it breks things like you wouldnt believe at only 100K) in terms of build quality in comparison to the E30. Not to mention the cost cutting, downsizing of the early to mid globalization 90's. E30s are still babys at 100K, my bros E46 is acting like a piece of shit breaking shit left and right now. Lets not even talk about those window lifters, hes on his second one in les than a few months and he doesnt beat the piss out of the car, I know.

So true but there is a car for every person. Like my dad and his Suburban. 1993 with 275k (no rebuild) miles and he just took it back to Oregon towing our boat, then down to the bay area and then back here to colorado. There is a purpose for everything eventhough that purpose is not in the right direction sometimes. The good american cars come with V8s, 4WD and are big (Trucks).

If he had said he was buying a truck, I would have commended him. Americans know one thing - trucks. No one does it like us. But for cars - the styling is bland, the reliability - for any of the big three - just isnt there, you never get your money's worth, they have to GIVE the things away (could you IMAGINE a 0% interest sale for a european car co?) As you said, subpar interior, and exterior, materials, craftsmanship, attention to detail. Boring cars that dont always get you from point a to point b. What then is the point? Cheap? Fine, go buy it because you can afford it. You'll be paying just as much in the long run as you would for a nicer, more expensive car. Maybe more.

On the contrary, TJ. I was a valet for almost 2 years at some of Boston's best restaurants and night clubs. I've driven pretty much everything on 4 wheels between that and various other jobs working for auctions and dealerships. It's not that I'm narrow minded. And I'm not under some sort of false presumption that my 86 ES with rusted fenders and rockers and roof is nicer than an e39 M5.

What I mean to say is the driving experience you get when you drive an E30 is hard to match with newer cars. There's a dialed in, electronically assisted feeling to all of them. It's that whole "sex with a condom," lost-in-translation theory. It's just not for me. I'll take the rusty car that makes driving more fun over some fancy leather seats and gadgets and buttons.

Like I said, just my opinion. But in terms of driving experience, there just arent that many cars that "bond" with the driver, and really make you part of it all.
