    anybody know the significance of this sword and shield?

    I've got this little sword and shield emblem on my 318is,

    I've seen them on some cars - recently on sick5wagen's cabriolet:


    I was wondering if anybody knew the significance of them? I've ruled out the idea of a dealership, there's no name on it - were they owned by somebody on one the bmw boards of some sort?

I asked the guy if the previous owner had drawn it or if it was the logo...
