    Fuuuuuuuuuuuuu

I took my car into the shop to get a fender fixed last week, and I claimed it on my insurance due to the road construction pitting the shit out of my windshield/hood/fucking my fender; State Farm estimated the work at $2200 -- and value my car at $2100. I have receipts showing around $5-6k worth of suspension, replacement parts, and general upkeep items from the past 6 months, and I have a receipt from when my car got painted.

Has anyone had their car professionally assessed to be a higher value ? If so, what did you take with you?

And I have a favor, could the E30 community please link any sale ads to 318iS that have sold / been listed for high prices? My car was fucking immaculate on the exterior, and I need to show them a clean 318iS isn't a $2100 car.

Fucking hate asking, but I'm pissed.

to my understanding, if you want your car value to increase because you have performance parts, upgrade, ects, you must tell them ahead of time and they will increase your insurance rate and the value of your car.
Bought parts from me before? leave your feedback here

                A "clean" 318is is worth 2~3k tops.

If you put a bunch of money into the car you need to have a talk w/ ur insurance people, you will probably pay higher premiums because of that, as said.

As an update, I had a private appraisal done by a respected member of the BMW community, and I submitted all of my recent receipts to Statefarm. They hired another appraiser, who valued the car at $8k, StateFarm's sending me a $2800 check to fix my fender. No changes to my rates.

Bullshit. A pile of crap is worth $2K, a nice M42 car can easily be worth $8K, as shown.

                              Glad you got a settlement!

But, in fact, you got lucky!

Be sure to read the Fine Print of your Policy before shouting out to your insurer that you have upgraded or otherwise installed non-original parts on the car.

Many policies include a disclaimer that states the car must be all original and the installation of aftermarket or performance parts voids the policy.

It isn't about chipped or sand-blasted fenders either.

If you ever cause personal injury or wrongful death, that's not a time to watch your insurer step sideways because you voided your policy by installing aftermarket parts.

Everyone here should read their policy, and know beforehand what they're getting into should they ever make a claim.

There are ins. cos. who will insure a non-standard car, and if heavily modifying, this is definitely a better way to go, even if it's more expensive.

Paying cheap rates is totally useless if they're not there when you need them.

                              Cheers!
