i would be amazed if you had a dentist use a nitrous oxide system in the process of removing wisdom teeth ;) unless you meant N2O :D

from what i have been told the biggest issue with keeping them is no matter how well you clean them they are likely to get build up and prone to rotting, cavities etc.

I only had 2 (bottoms). The uppers were never there. When they removed the lowers they could not get one of the roots out so now I still have one of my roots in which bothers me slightly from tiem to time. I enjoyed eating jars of baby food after my surgery (the Heinz arrowroot custard and pears were my fave! didn't care so much for strained beans etc.). Boy did I puke alot of blood after my surgery!

I had this girl in my acting class last year who never had any wisdom's and was also missing 2 molars (her smile and teeth were fantastic btw).

I got all mine taken out a few months ago. They were in fine, but had cavities and the dentist pretty much said I could have them removed now, or later, after lots of fillings, etc.
