Saw one at the dealership like a month ago when I was in there picking up some nuts and bolts.....I turned to my dad with an appalled look and just shook my head and bitched about it for the next 5 minutes hahah. -

The conclusion is obvious, this guy is really thick."They just sit there," says Nick Toomey, general manager of Rallye BMW in Westbury, N.Y. "I don't know why it takes a long time to sell."Leave a comment:

U.S. sales of quirky 5-series GT disappoint BMW
http://www.autonews.com/apps/pbcs.dl...305239978/1246"The disappointment I have is that I thought a lot of our 5-series station wagon customers would go with the GT," O'Donnell says. "In point of fact, that is not happening. We have lost those customers to the competition -- mainly to Mercedes-Benz.
When the GT was launched in the United States, BMW executives said they expected annual sales of 4,000 to 8,000 units. BMW sold 2,848 GTs in 2010 and just 720 in the first four months of 2011.
One public dealership group has stopped ordering the GT because of slow sales. Other dealers said they sell one or two GTs a month.
"They just sit there," says Nick Toomey, general manager of Rallye BMW in Westbury, N.Y. "I don't know why it takes a long time to sell."
O'Donnell says he doesn't want to lose wagon sales to Mercedes-Benz so BMW will keep the 3-series wagon in its lineup.
"We are not giving up the 3-series wagon because if you give it up, they will go straight to the competition," he says.
As for bringing back the 5-series wagon, O'Donnell says it may be too late for this generation.
"It's in the back of my mind," he says. "When we do the next generation, maybe we should."Leave a comment:

I just cant get over its repugnant looks. I guess thats tainting my opinion.to compete with the porsche thing. it is nothing like the 5 series or the wagon for that matter.
I think it looks better than the 5er with the correct wheels on it. Guess everyone has their own feeling on things, I used to hate the X6, but after seeing them for a while now i think they look way nicer than the X5.
If you drive a 5 er GT, you will be sold on it, it isnt sporty but you feel like a king in it with its seating position!Leave a comment:

Its pointless because I cant fathom why they developed it when they had a perfectly fine, comparably spacious, MUCH more aesthetically pleasing touring model. It may have room, but I find it unnecessary and absolutely horrendous to the eye.

the GT is a nice very roomy car. I don't understand the comments about it being "pointless". the trunk room area is alot larger than it looks.
ohh, BTW- they have been around long enough for me to replace atleast 10 waterpumps, atleast 5 cars B pillars (that are glued on with 2 sided tape WTF) replaced atleast 15 cars door pull cables, as well as a few cars that all of the windows decided they wanted to scratch themselves. there is alot of problems with interior parts not matching very well either.Leave a comment:

The standard sedan and the touring are beautiful, in my opinion. They grew on me though, didn't like them at first.
The GT wagon/hatchback/fastback/whateverthefuck is godawful. Looks like someone took a standard sedan and backed it into a wall.
Don't give up on BMW, though. They make mistakes (e36 318iT). But at least they are trying to clean up after the last generation of 5's, 6's & 7's.
I'm looking forward to the next 6Leave a comment:
