Yeah, they're nice to see. The only extremely disappointing thing is that it's difficult and expensive to import them to the US, due to federalization laws.

Aren't they old enough to bypass most of that nonsense yet?

you could get lucky - when we imported my wife's car, they didn't even look at it. the whole process took like 15 minutes. I did have a letter from the manufacturer, but since they never actually saw the car, it could have been anything.. lol

                      DO WANT.

Hartge, unlike Alpina, was never considered a 'manufacturer' of cars IIRC, therefor the registration would simply say '535i' and importing it would probably be zero issue. Just register and go.

Ever since I moved out here from the prairies I've seen many of these cars in very old cond. with no rot issues. VERY different from where I come from. And yes, they are shockingly cheap given their low mileage (remember to divide whatever the mileage in kms is, to miles is to divide it by 1.6) e.g. 100,000kms is only 62,500 miles

I would love to buy 2-3 cars and store them. Then 10 years from now get them imported and sell them.

Very cool touring, but it's autotragic.
