Maybe BMW hasn't tried hard enough to sell a proper hatch. The 318ti looked like ass, was only available with the slow engine and most of the good options were missing. On the other hand BMW doesn't have any trouble selling loaded up Minis. And the A3 is a 30k+ car available with every option imaginable. They're not trying to unload some low margin poverty spec garbage.

Ill admit I dont own an e30 now, but Im in the process of buying a delphingrau m50 swapped one, and I couldnt agree more. Im a freshman in engineering school. Assuming, when I have a job, I get and still have this car, I would much rather restore and DD it than buy a new one... and Id still have cash left over.

In 2009 VWOA sold 108k jettas... only 18k were wagons. That means 16% of Jettas sold in America are wagons.
If you read the article I posted you would have seen that 40% of Jetta sedans were also TDIs. I bet bmw could sell more 123d hatches in the US than 5GTs, or X6Ms or any number of other 'nitch' models.

The only half descent looking 1 series.

Why do people have such a hate for a fwd car? Its ridiculous. Its just a stupid fucking drivetrain layout. FWD Civics and Accords whip the shit out of BMWs all the time in the BTCC and WTCC.

You guys hate them probably because it takes more skill to drive a FWD car faster on a road course than a RWD car.
Ma che cazzo state dicendo? :|

I think if they sold a 123d coupe theyd sell a lot more.

I just have to ask what the point of a 1 GT is vs the 1 Hatch.

I agree with tjts1. Imo BMW's been making big mistakes like this in NA for a long time. Like following up the 02 with a deceitfully badged, heavier car making 25 less hp.

Haha crazy, according to this article here most 1 series owners think they have a fwd car anyway. lol
                        :stupid:

who the fuck cares, bmw is out to make more millions, what else is new.

it'd be nice if they keep the rwd heritage, but from where im standing this would
just make my 20yo shitbox all the more special.

if i buy a new car, id stick to principles and not a badge, bmw doesn't pay my bills.
