    Cleaning oil stains from asphalt

So my leaky-ass E30 is staining the hell out of the street. I'm getting the oil pan gasket replaced hopefully this weekend but in the meantime I've got some terrible stains in the street.

My neighbors are awesome and put up with me doing some gawdawful shit so I like to keep at least the front of my house looking great. The acres of oil stains don't really work.

I cleaned the stains off my concrete driveway with DE, that worked great, but would that work on asphalt?

    Any other tips?

Home depot sells some powder acid stuff that I used for cleaning grout haze off of tile. I used the leftover on a spot in my street from my car and it worked. You could try that.
My input shaft seal was leaking for months, so bad that I was filling it everyday. After all that time, you can trace my route from my house, up the 5, and tell what exit I get off, and follow the trail right to my parking spot at work. It was that bad.

how about a can of brake cleaner and a water hose? or if you have some cats you can use kitty litter.

Go to autozone, buy a 5 gallon bucket of brakleen, and make sure no one sees you clean it up.

Which one of these mentioned items genuinely works? Remember this is ASPHALT, not your typical smooth concrete driveway which is easy to clean.

I got an idea. Just pour oil everywhere and match the rest of the road with your dirty spot.

Seriously tho, muratic acid is the way to go.

I've used Purple Power with great success before. I just poured it on the spots full strength and let it sit for a bit, then scrubbed with a brush and hosed away. I used a brush made for scrubbing your deck. Heavy duty coarse nylon bristles. Worked great.

You can buy muratic acid at pretty much any hardware store. I use the stuff for etching circuit boards.
