I have one that came from the dealer with my car, Sucks huge balls but looks the part in the e30 and it mounts perfectly on the knee bolster.

              Hmmm...

I was hoping to be talked out of getting a V1, but it seems that really is the way to go. I get Escort products for almost half price, so sad.

I've got a V1 that I picked up off craigslist for $135. Worth every penny. They're out there for cheap if you look long enough.

Check out the Escort Redline reviews on YouTube...they outperform almost every detector out there.

Do these things ever get outdated? I mean, are they still going to be good 5 years from now? I've always wanted to get one, but I can't seem to bring myself to do it at the rate that technology is constantly released.

I've only had mine installed for a couple weeks... it picks up signals from 20 miles aways (jk, but far a hell). No complaints here... maybe the price. But, mine was a gift :D

                            i bought a v1
hardwired it to the check panel with the hard wire kit it comes with.

it paid itself off easily in the first month.

My gf lives up near sacramento and i have done many drives in several cars with the v1, as well as to vegas 4-5 in the last year.

do it right the first time.

I sold my passport and bought a v1. Use it everyday. Oregon troopers have laser though, and if you read up even a v1 laser is instant on/off. Sooo, unless the guy in front of you is lasered, if you're booking down the insterstate and your v1/passport/uniden/cobra alerts for laser, pull over and get out your wallet.

v1's are update-able at a small fee if any. you plug your sn into their online gizmo and it tells you if there has been a firmware update.
