          What are the chances that this is the solution to the problem? Im concerned im going to need a whole new tranny or that the noise is coming from something else( possibly more internal)

            may fix it..may not. i drained the oem fluid out of my trans at like 200k and it was like piss. it shifted ok before..a little clunky..afterward it shifted like shit for a while, now its 10x better than ever before.. and i put valvoline 80-90 in it too.

              So for anyone who this might interest. I "emptied" out my tranny fluid. All i got was a drop out of it. That poor thing was bone dry.

              As mentioned I was dealing with a high pitched whine in 2nd and difficulty getting into 3rd.
              Post tranny fluid replacement, the car ran great and no whine so far! Let me know if you would like a DYI on this though there are many out there

                      Glad the fluid seemed to fix it. Mine whines like crazy but I don't let it bother me, still works just fine.
