Who knows about here. Maryland is a communist state anyway, so i'm surprzed they haven't did anything like this yet...
There's actually a lot of nice ones with Historic tags. They are usualy out on nice days or on car shows. It's just the people who put them on their daily driver, cause it cant get through inspection. It makes the cars in West Virgina look like they came off of the show room floor!
oh i'll knock it... It gets very tiring to see a rusted out Toyota or some Ford or Chevy truck with the frame rusted and truck bent in a V going down the road.
ok :)

hahaha, I'd say half of our e30 group out here has historic tags on theirs. It's so much cheaper and easier for swaps, etc.Comment

But you got me going soooo.....
Your not really being fair, your assuming that just because a car looks like ass it runs like shit and no one loves it. What about rat rods, should they be off the road? But wait, now they are the norm so thats ok right?
Personally i think that "Historic" cars should be used for more then car shows and going to the gulf course. I know a guy who had a 87 4runner with crazy lift, ugly as sin but awesome, has historic tags, he used it in the snow and got it covered in salt and i think thats great (not his daily).
As long as its not a daily i think its fine, no one can tell you how to use your "Historic" car.
P.S. im sure that chopped jetta is safer then any Model TComment

Ok then. Rat Rods are not on the roads everyday. And in Maryland can be tagged as a "Street Rod".
And yes, i agree that Historic tag cars should only be used off and on. But people abuse the tags in Maryland and it's going to make it harder to get them. Kind of like in PA here. The car has to look like it rolled off the show room floor or they wont give you the Histortic tags.
And the cop pulling you over can ask you why your out in your "historic" car. He would be like, "Hey buddy! Where is the show today? There's alot of salt on the roads, why you out getting your "historic" car all dirty in it? (MMmn, i kind of would like to be a state trooper now!)
And a chopped up VW compaired to a Model T... Both will crush like a Dixie cup.
The bottom line is, People in Maryland is abusing the tag. And the day will come that it's going to be hard to get that tag in MD. When? i dont know... Soon i hope.

To each there own.
The only people i've known who abuse the tags have been farm trucks, and people who never have there car running long enough to use them on the road. Both wrong but not a big problem
Sounds like PA is a royal pain about this and has sucked all the fun out of historic tags. Also sounds like a good place to buy cars that need light metal work:D

You complain about it being overly difficult to obtain historic tags in PA, but you hope it happens in MD "soon"Comment
