                i think it's called a snap-on red box. pretty out dated. you'll have a hard time finding... i would just upgrade to motronic 1.1 or 1.3 (thats what i ended up doing, any way)

                    Ok, so upgrade to a 1.1 or 1.3. Got it. Is it just that simple ?, just swap 'em out ? Nothing else to be concerned with?

                        well to be honestly, it's a little bit involved. search 327i conversion, theres a hole thread on it.

                        my stance on it is this; if you dont want to/can afford to do a 24v swap, this is a cheaper alternative. with that said, this project is some what involving. so your car could be out of commission for a couple of days, but after than you'll have a working CEL, and onboard diagnostics in addition to being able to use an '88 and newer scan tool.

                        i guess i would suggest reading that 327i conversion thread first, and weighing your options.
