Okay, so I just had mint comfurt tan carpet installed, as the carpet that was originally in my e30 had about 2 inches of ice beneath it. Well, my cousin drove it and left the sun roof so it wasn't completely sealed all the way. Snow sat on top, it rained, we had an ice storm, and well now, my entire carpet was soaked. I found out the other day and used towels to soak everything up. Luckily (well, as far as luck goes in this case) my car is parked uphill so all the water ran behind the drivers side and is resting in that "well" in front of the drivers back seat. I've been airing it out as much as I can and everywhere else is mostly dry. The back seat, however, has a "puddle of ice" and it's completely frozen. I've heard mixed reviews on whether or not the entire carpet needs to be torn out and I need to purchase a new one, or to keep airing it out on warm days and letting the ice melt and the water evaporate. I would like some actual honest responses from people who own e30's and perhaps have gone through the same unfortunate situation. I hope to hear responses, as I'm not sure what to do at this point. Thanks for taking your time to read!

i don't think you'd need to replace the carpet, but i would want to make sure there was no water trapped underneath that would slowly eat your floors away.
i'd pull it out to dry the floors and maybe even bring the carpet inside to warm it up and make sure it dries completely. mold sucks too.

So if I take the carpet out, do I put a dehumidifier in the car, or can I wipe everything down with dry towels and air it out a little more? I'm kinda short on cash at the moment, so I'm looking for the best and most affordable way possible to save my carpet and get this water/ice situation taken care of.

I left it in there. I just got an extension cord and sat the dehumidifier in the back seat with something to keep it level. Closed up all the doors and let it do it's thing. It'd probably be best to take the carpet out just to get the foam shit under there, but I didn't do that.1974.5 Jensen Healey : 2003 330i/5

He only drove it once, I had to drive behind him since I don't have a plate and had to bring it home. So believe me after this fiasco no one is driving my car except me lol. I'm gonna bring it inside and maybe try shop vacuuming the water out, and placing it by the heater.
And I'm sorry Nomansland. Let me know how your carpet turns out. I wish you luck with it!
Have you tried checking the seals on the windows, sun roof, and doors? You may need to replace them, they may not be completely sealing everything they need to off.

So now that all the ice melted I got to scoop about 18 cups of water out today. This Is the best I could do.
I scooped water out with a cup, used a towel and a whole roll of papertowels. It's still pretty damp but there isn't much else I can do except take the carpet out, which I'm gonna have to wait to do till tomorrow since it's starting to rain. I can't win lol.
I found a tear in the door seal. It doesn't seem as though water would be getting through here, but should I replace all the seals anyways? I'm gonna pick up a car cover with my next check so at least water won't be an issue for now.

I'd pull the carpet and let it dry for several days inside. If it's dirty, take the time to pressure wash it to get it clean. Works great. Just don't pressure wash the back side or you might hurt the foam padding.
Might not want to cover it either as any water in the car that needs to come out will just be trapped under the cover.
After you pull the carpet out, try putting a small electic heater inside the car with the windows cracked slightly. This should evaporate any water that is left.
