Used value of 85 325e(no joking)

Ok guys no joking around I know it's an eta. But I've been looking for a good straight e30 and found one local
1985 325e 2-door, 5-speed, Alpine White I, Pfeba Front lip spoiler, Stock bottle caps, Good Michelan tires, chassis has 260-270k miles, Engine has replace brand new in 99 and has 50-60k miles, New clutch at the same time, Paint is in Excellant shape (9.5 out of 10), No rust, Never wrecked. Lower Grill support is bent(lightly bumped a truck) But no core support damage, Very small dent under rear license plate(very small). Those are the dents dings. Interior-Cracked dash, Driver's seat has seen better days, Rest of interior no rips or stains or cracks. Has full OBC, Cruise, power everything, AC was working a year ago but was having problems. One owner car(orignal owner selling) Purchased here in Chattanooga brand new, serviced by one very good local shop all it's life. Very well taken care off. Also the diff is making noises according to the owner. I'm going to test drive the car Friday or sunday and will find out then. I looked up KBB value of $950 for the car and supposedly he looked up KBB and NADA and had a way higher figure in mind(~$2000) I don't want to completly affend him with an offer, but I know $2000 is to much. What would you guys say? I'm willing to pay a bit more due to being local and one owner well taken care of car, but it does need a little work.(Diff, Driver's seat, dash, and headlight support)

Print out the rating on kbb.com of $950 and bring it with you if you decide to start talking business. Also bring a printout prom BMA's site with the prices for the parts you'd need to buy to bring the car up to good condition. Show them to the guy and use em as leverage to get the price you want. Worked for me when I bought my ix. Talked the guy down from a decent asking price of 2500 to 2000. Id say the car is worth something around 1300-1500, based on its maintenance history, and the fact that its all been by one owner.

I test drove a beater 84 318. It had a pretty solid drivetrain but the wheel wells rusted out and it had been painted over, probably in his garage, and the interior was just plain shot (had to hold door panel on with tape) and over 200k and the guy actually got something like 1800 for it.

I've got all three reports printed out. And will take them with me, I mentioned the KBB price last night and his mouth just dropped, He said he checked KBB and it said something else(he must of checked the dealer retail price). $1300-$1500 I'd be ok with but $1200 would be more comfortable. I'll print out the prices at BMA for the needed stuff or estimated used prices based off Ebay. The driver's seat is by far the worst thing, it's ripped to the metal on both upper and lower driver side bolsters, then the front headlight support as the Grill is Leaning. When I go back Friday or Sunday to test drive. I'm going to ask to pull the grill off just to make sure the core support isn't damaged. Then we will talk business then, I sort of cuaght the seller off guard as he hadn't advertised the car or realy thought about selling it. I got his number from a doctor, and just dropped by his house one day.

Sounds similar to my car. Wow that's depressing -only about a year ago those reports said it was worth about 2k, so now we are down to close to 1k. Last year I had tranny work done that totalled 2.3k ... well never mind.

The spoiler alone is probably worth 100-200 bucks.

I would take like 11 $100 bills and wave them in the guys face. People respond to cash in good ways

                    (my $.02)

$2000 is a unreal price for it. He should know that. If not, look up KBB with him, or ask him to call his bank if he doesn't believe you.???

Plus with a bit of damage(minor, but play it up) $1000 would be fair.

I bet he thinks he is going to get $1750 for it.

Yea, cash talks...I perfer a bank roll of $20's - the stack of bills is much nicer!

I just called him to try to seet he car again tonight, he is still at work and supposed to call when he gets home. I've got all three vehicle reports printed out $1200-$1300 is waht I'd be willing to go for. Anything more and I'll spend the money on the 6er instead.

I'd say around 1000-1400 depending on overall condition of the car and because of the fresh engine. So I think you're right in line with what you should pay.

If I ever get to look at it again...... Guy draws house plans, and is always away. Today didn't work out, so hopefully sunday. If by sunday I still can't test drive the car and talk $$$$ with him I'll probally have to pass. I have my 6er at the point I can get it running but that will take $$ The fuel injection system needs alot of work so I'm swapping to motronic 1.3 and that requires changing the camshaft. So I've got it ready to yank the head but don't want to break loose the bolts till I know which way I'm going.

Well I negotiated the car for $1500. I took it for a 20mile test drive and the engine pulls very nicely, suspension is nice and tight. I took the car in to a tight local corner and the buyer went reaching for the O-shit handle but the car stuck. No shakes or vibrations nice and smooth. He was asking $2000 and had to think hard and long to settle for $1500. I'm going to go pick the car up tommorow evening after I go by the bank. Then the fun proccess of swapping parts begins. Wheels, suspension, interior, roll bar the works from my car will be geeting swapped over.
