I was only drawn to this thread by the catchy title, slapping sticks.
"Its preparations are concealed, not published. Its mistakes are buried not headlined. Its dissenters are silenced, not praised. No expenditure is questioned, no rumor is printed, no secret is revealed."
i just wanted some info on it, thanks though.
any ideas on changeing the shift points in the transmission?
i heard i could tighten the shift cable so it "thinks" i am using more throttle than i am so it will revi higher longer(not talking about raising rev limit, i mean holding gears longer)
Yes you can tighten up the accelerator bowden cable, or kickdown cable, that will help a little, but not much. this pretty much controls how hard the tranny shifts. The part that does most of the control on the shift points, is the govenor. If you take the tailhousing off the tranny you will see the govenor on the shaft. You can either take it apart and lighten the weights, which is a pretty big hit and miss thing, or you can buy one new or used for a 318 which has higher shift points. But remember, if you have an eta, your torque converter is about a 900 rpm stall, if you have an i it is about 1400 rpm, and if you have a 318 it is about 1600 rpm. Everybody here seems to hate these little 4hp22's, but they are pretty good for what they are. And they make it easier to drink coffee and talk on the phone and do my makeup on the way to work... Just kidding... I wouldn't dare talk on the phone...
Good luck
