He's talking about a shifter. Where you put it in first and change gears by "slapping" the shifter.

When I worked at a Dodge dealership I drove "slapstick" shift cars. Was almost cool the first time you shifted then was as gay as it sounds.

That does not seem like it would be fun in an e30. I would like to drive an e30 with a sequential box though.

I'd have to agree. Slapsticks are fun in cars with 400+hp though!!!

i just wanted some info on it, thanks though.
any ideas on changeing the shift points in the transmission?
i heard i could tighten the shift cable so it "thinks" i am using more throttle than i am so it will revi higher longer(not talking about raising rev limit, i mean holding gears longer)

Assuming you have an automatic car, can't you buy shift kits for them that do this? I wouldn't know, never looked up parts for an auto.

                        Yes. It's called a 5-speed swap ;)

The e30 does not utilize a cable, it has a steel rod. Very hard rod is.

mine sure had a cable for the downshift "linkage" running up to the throttle body (which is what he is talking about). A slapstick has nothing at all to do with the trans.-- I have a slapstick shifter in my 55 Bel-Air. It annoys the crap out of me what you have to do to get the car in reverse, and you can also just put it in "D" and not need to ratchet each gear.
BTW, mine is a B&M and it is universal, i am sure you can make it work on an e30 if you get one for a 4 speed automatic.
