Every time my buddy gets drunk, I always choose to be DD since he has the e39 m5. Every single time I drive it I'm the happiest kid in a car. That thing has torque off a roll like I've never felt. It's so smooth and almost effortless to be doing triple digits. Probably my favorite m car so far for Daily Driving purposes.

The M5 has never been a real neck snapper. What it loses in dead stop acceleration it gains in rolling acceleration. Like people have said earlier in the thread, the great part about all of the M5's is putting your foot down at 60mph and blinking only to see you're doing 110. They're highway monsters.

You cant over-glorify M cars, they are God's gift to the world, the Jesus thing didn't work out, so he has sent us M cars since then! You've pissed off God now, thanks a lot.

I thought was going to be faster. Is that wrong?

I'm not saying that it wasn't a gorgeous piece of ///M. I have always wanted one someday and I still do; I've glorified it too much I guess.

I drove the moon once, not impressed at its rotating performance.

    I was expecting more.

I was expecting it to be snappier. The owner and I decided that with a tune and exhaust its going to be more responsive. I didn't get to take it on any twisties or to any good corners where I could get it to slide so I won't comment on how the car performs side ways.

    I was expecting more.
What motor do you have in your car?

The S62 really doesn't have much on a 25 year old tired 120 hp E motor.

Hmm-I've had my '00 M5 for 3 years now and it's acceleration still impresses me when I drive it. And I agree with Sean-the way it continues to accelerate past 100mph is something! I am selling mine since I have replaced it with a '07 X5 4.8i, but every time I drive it I know I am going to miss it. They truly are great cars.

I owned a 2000 M5 for about a year, bought it with body damage/electrical gremlins. Completely stock it would light up the tires in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear with sport mode on, traction control off, and a heavy foot. From a roll it was a monster, in the twisties it was a blast.

Methinks you either had it overhyped in your head, or you didn't realize how smooth it feels while accelerating. Its a 4000lb, 400hp N/A car, its never going to rip your head off under acceleration..
