not to piss in your petunias, but not too many people use verts for racing. generally verts get style bars and thats it. having seen any racing verts on here.

    but good luck.

If it is not too late...PLEASE don't ruin a vert =( Go buy a random coupe and put a cage in that.

IDK dude, cabrios are like the worse cars to take to the track. On top of that cabrios with rollbars make the driver look like a tard. Just keep it classic.

I think their doing the opposite of bashing on the verts, their trying to save it. The vert yes would look kool with a cage and all but I say if its gonna be street driven don't bother with the cage unless its a full race car. Btw their called Recaro seats.

No bashing from me man, I am building a euro vert for my Brother. So I only have love for the vert =)

I just have NO love for a cage in one. Sorry but that is what I think. They need classic wheels and a nice body package. There is something amazing about a MT1 euro bumper vert with era correct OZ weaves.

If rollover protection is a major concern, you picked the wrong car.

That said, they hold up better in rollovers than most 80s ragtops.

You really gotta figure out what you want from your car so you can get one that best suits your needs.

For trackdays, the E30 vert is a poor choice. BMWCCA won't let it run even if it has a bar for that matter. And bars aren't the best thing to have if your not wearing a helmet at all times.

Im interested not for racing but for a bit of rigidity on my weekly canyon runs

edit: not a full bar though, just one behind my head to the back seat. K

                        this.

The vert body roll isnt all that bad. If anything it has a lower center or gravity.

I've never herd this much bashing of Vert's
How are those "heated ricardo's"? I hear they hurt at first but feel great once everything is broken in.

Obviously we'd all love to have a coupe for tracking/driving hard, a vert for cruising when the weather's good, and a touring for hauling our stuff, but that's not always possible. My vert already has an S52, e36 m3 5 lug and koni's, and an X brace for stability so it'd be plenty fun at autox if I was allowed out in it. I'm not worried about rolling it over particularly but obviously a quality bar would only help if the worst was to happen. I'm also not sure I'd want to track it at a HPDE with higher speeds. But I'd love to be allowed to autox it, and whether or not BMWCCA allows it plenty of autocross organizations allow verts, I'll just go where the miatas go.

Yessir, No go on the BMWCCA events. That was one of Satch's big rants.

                              SCCA is ok though.

And yea, I can relate to everyone's pain here, I built a useless car too. Would probably be killer on the track if it was ever allowed on one. I don't think I can even do 1/4 mi.

Oh well, it looks nice and is fun to drive.
