      This is prob the latest reply in the history of this site but i have a great idea....

      take out the weight in the trunk and replace it with the battery. Then take the weight that was taken out of the trunk and put it in the engine bay..... then you will still keep your car balanced.....

        Motor swap + battery relocation = closely balanced still too.

              cut the battery in half and put it in the trunk, you still retain the weight distribution. duhh

                i just did the relocation. guess what? you can't feel the difference.
                verts = not race cars

                so much front to disconnect weight balance is the lest of the issues.
                Much wow

                  I just took the weight out when i dropped my car. I doubt there is need to relocate anything.
                  the weight of the battery isnt that much anyway. of course you wont notice a thing.
                  I don't even own this car anymore, but I'm too lazy to change the picture.

                    biggest reason that would cause me to relocate the battery would not be to remove the dead weight in the trunk, but to get the battery out of the hot as hell engine compartment (longer battery life)

                    Here in Az batteries last about 3 years max in the bay, if not exposed to the additional heat, you can get another year or so out of them......

                      Remove the ballast weight and replace with Luke sub box.

                        it was to help eliminate the "shuttle" feeling. as a dampener the weight keeps the car from rocking back and forth.

                          ^What Cabroilet said. It's a vibration dampener.

                            cabrios have a metal ballast
                            sedans have rubberised matting.
                            both wiegh 50 lbs, and both cars are happy without it.
                            if your nervouse about losing control at high speeds, i would check your tires, bushings and alignment 1st.
