Malvo only got life in prison

The kid who was involved in the sniper shootings this summer on the east coast was convicted to life in prison today. He should get the death penalty. He killed, he should be killed. Bottom line. The justice system is fucked up.

that depends.. I don't believe in the death penalty. Government executions should have gone the way of the dark ages. What he did was fucked up, yes. But imagine how much it would suck to spend 60-70 years in a 6x6 room with a guy named bubba who wants to be your lover. He'll get what he deserves. :)

My simple belief is this. If you kill someone. You should be killed. If a dude rapes a girl, he should have his stuff cut off and then be imprisoned. Prison also is for thieves. But above all if you take the life of an inncent person, you should die. This kid should be killed.

It's a pity western countries have minimized penalties for crimes.....in the Middle East rape offenders are hung in the middle of town....resulting in almost no rapes occurring. For theft, a hand is cut off...resulting in almost no theft. Seems like a much better situation to me. At least the US still has the death penalty, and hopefully will not follow Europe in ridding themselves of such an important means of punishment.

My brother in law was shot in the head & shoulder when he opened the front door to his house, the offenders were wanting to rob his house in England...........they both rec'd only 25 years in prison.....that is f**ked up.

EDIT: where I currently live/work there is a death penalty for drugs.....but first they cane you 6 times then hang you.....not much of a drug problem here.

Why do we have to stoop to their (the killer's) level for vengence? Most, if not all murderers do not care. If they cared about the consequences, they probably would have thought twice about killing. Life in prison without parole is the best solution. 50+ years in prison thinking about what you did, and how you can never, ever get out, I think, is better. I am not religious, but for all the religion bound people here, God did preach about forgivness, did he not? I am against the death penalty, so that is just my view. I hope this convo does not blow up or offend anyone in any way.

Then why don't you go kill him, so you can sleep at night.

It's not like the kid is going to last more than 2 years in jail anyway. If the inmates don't get him, the guards will.

I was actually down in the DC area during these shootings last year, the whole air around the area was creepy. People were afraid to get out of their cars. 3 of these shootings were within about 10 minutes of my parents house.

Of course, now I'm back in columbus, and we've got a sniper 5 minutes from my apartment off of 270, yeeha.

I do not believe there is any solid evidence that harsh penalties like these have a positive effect on crime. Most criminals do not think about the consequences when they are doing something bad, indeed a lot of them just hope they don't get caught. The death penalty for drugs? come on. The drug war is one of the dumbest things our goverment(s) have ever done. Our prisons are full of people who did nothing more than smoke some dope. OH NO!! here comes the potheads to kill us all!!

the fact that when our president was governor of texas, there were 152 executions is simply fucking scary.

Are you kidding me? You need to look into some good countries in the Middle East. Saudi Arabia is a great example of a country that has a very low crime rate. I want to move to Texas for the alone reason that they have executed so many people. I wish they would bring back public executions.

South Africa has the death penalty, and they have the highest crime rate in the world. There is no credible evidence that links fear of punishment to low crime rate. In Japan, people are rarely improsoned for more than ten years, regardless or the crime; they also have one of the lowest crime rates in the industrialized world.

Oh, and I'm sure importing Sharia (the Islamic punishment code mentioned above) to the US will go over quite well.

I say he got off easy. Hell, if I was ever homeless (which I will never be) I would rather be in jail with food clothes and shelter, rather than being free on the streets to live miserably.

texas also has a low crime rate becuase some cities allow everyone to carry a gun. there is one city where the crime rate is .01 thanks to this law :). i love texas!

There are a lot of guns in West Baltimore, but their crime rate is through the roof. Are you telling me that Houston has a low crime rate? I beg to differ. Crime rates in cities have to do with sub-cultures within them, not with hicks carrying guns. There has never been any evidence to support a negative correlation between guns and crime.

Iceland does not have long prison times,

                            dope carrying : 2years max,

killing somebody : 8years (the longest sentance)

Some guys brought in a TONN (1000kg (2000lbs)) of random dope, they got12years,
that is the longest sentance ever,

There is not much of petty crimes like purse snatching and stick ups,

In Iceland there is a big correlation between drug usage and crime, every criminal who is cought robbing a bank needed it to pay off drug money, one robbed the bank, payed his debt, then walked to the cops and gave himself up,
And the crime rate has gone up with drug rate,

Putting somebody away for a long time I think doesn´t make that much of a diffrence,
They should simply be put back on the streets when they have been "FIXED"
And that is what the prison system should be about, not locking you up and trowing away the key, nobody comes from a 50year jail sentence with a straight mind anymore, they would feel better on the inside, where they have always been and their friends are,

Going away for 10years here are some tips,
get an education while you are in there,
work out, we always need to keep in shape,
take up something clever, like martial arts books, or teach your self something,
Coming better then going in is the whole point,
                            Gunni

I dont know about caning people for smoking some grass or anything, that seems a bit....cruel. But seriously, why are so many Americans such pussies? The dude who shot a bullet over an terrorsist head to get him to talk just got suspended without pay for 2 months and his wife has cancer. He got what he needed to hear to protect his men and his people. Why in the hell is the gov't going to go and punish him? We cant torture Sadam to get him to talk so we let the Jews do it. For God's sake. Eye for an eye tooth for a tooth. Malvo should be dead right now. And no fucking doubt if it happened in Texas they would probably kill that son of a bitch in the streets so anyone from a 2 to a 90 year old could watch him bleed to death. But no, he will not make it in the prison system. I guess that is the good thing about not using the death penalty that often. The true scum of the earth will kill the other scum that the government didn't have enough of balls to kill b/c of these bitchy organizations saying that people should be forgiven for taking another man's life. Give me a fucking break.
