Do they still make the Toyo Proxes R1R in 225/45/16? I just bought them last year and they're great. They have a 140 treadwear and perform excellent in the rain.

EDIT: I just checked and they're listed around $210-220 on various sites. I paid $188 last year at a Toyo dealer.

I think I remember seeing the Toyo T1R in 225/45/16 too.

Kuhmo's came in the 215 45 16 but I'm just worried about the sound rating on these tires. I don't want to buy a set knowing that they will get ungodly loud after only 10k miles of use.

Im running this size. I dont have a ton of miles on the tires, but i don really notice anything significantly louder then the last set of falkens.

Sorry i lost focus on this topic, i kinda went blind with rage when someone said ES100's were good tires.

Those of you looking at the Kumho XS, just keep in mind that they absolutely suck if it's cool or wet out. They are the WORST wet tire I've ever driven on - so bad that I threw out my 285/30-18 set halfway through. They also don't really like ambient temperatures below 80.

They really shine when it's bone dry and approaching 100. But in any other weather, they are a nightmare. Also, the sloppy sidewalls hold them back under ideal conditions. I would stick to 205 star specs or 225 R1Rs.

I have no experience with the es100s but I am on my second set of KDWs. I had 205/55/15 on my euroweaves and now I have 225/45/16 on my t-star reps. There is plenty of stick and not loud at all for a performance summer tire.

See, thats why i heard too but i have had no issues with them at all. The are fine in the wet, and even on one cold autocross morning i was able to get enough heat into them to make them work. Not as good as a 70+ degree day but enough to keep from mashing cones.

I have 225-45-16 KDW2 on my H23. Love them. Only a dry weather summer car, but have no complaints.

I've got G-force 17's on my E30 Touring, not a bad tire, grippy in dry, not great in the wet, wears well, not sure I would buy another set when it's time.

I've got Es100's on my 240Z - had them for a few years, the car isn't daily driven, but I have no complaints about the tires - they work very well in the dry, car doesn't see much rain so I can't say, and they're wearing well.

                      es 100's suck
                      Kumhos suck almost as badly
Sumitomos are cheaper and seem better. Ive just started running them though. Dont know how they will wear. Sumis are a Dunlop Eastern derivative. Seem pretty high quality rubber.
