windows stuck down

I posted this in General Technical, but it's supposed to rain/snow soon and my windows are stuck down, so I need to solve this...

Windows are stuck down, and sunroof won't open, trying to diagnose where the disconnect is...

I have no power at fuse 17, but I do have power at the switches, the circuit breaker, K5 and K7, and the starter wires are all tight.

Maybe the wires that go into fuse 17 are bad? It's too dark to check now, but thats the only thing I can think of that would cause this.

You have power at the switches? Or they are just illuminated?

I can't remember if this is early model specific or not, but I'm pretty sure you can remove the plastic caps where the handles for crank up windows would be and put them up manually. Again, not sure if late models can do this, if they can there should be a tool to do it in the trunk's toolkit.

how is it possible to have no voltage at fuse #17 30amp (key in run position) and voltage at the switch? sounds like a short.

check the connector at the door jamb it might be corroded, my sister e30 had that issue.

got the windows up with the allen key, although the sockets started stripping almost immediately so i had to push/pull them up while i did that... the sockets are almost completely stripped into circles. anyway, i got them up.. tomorrow ill take the door cover off and check the motor and the connectors

must have been using the wrong size allen key unless it was already stripped i belive its a 5mm or 6mm.

does your heater work? try the unloader relays

heater = blower? then no. where are the unloader relays?

in the fuse box

they are controlled by the ignition switch/jumper wire on the starter. if it's not hooked up right, they don't work.
