Back in the E30 game with my new 89 325ix.

Im back. I had an 84 318i (my first bimmer) it 'asploded and I was sad. I drove around a pick up truck for awhile, and now Im back in an Alpineweiss II 325iX. WOOOOOOO! Pictures in half an hour.

Look at the mesh spare in my trunk. Yes.

Its an auto so Im thinking a hot 5 speed swap in the summertime.

But first things first, general cleaning, replace gaskets, bushings, bearings (one of my wheel bearings is shot), my exhaust (any one have a good recommended cat delete?) because the cat is missing and theres just steel flex tubing in its place with hose clamps, install my factory tape deck (he had a lame aftermarket system, but bless his soul he didnt tear up any of the wiring harnesses!) things like that.

Maybe track down some mesh to match my spare. Any iX suggestions? Keep in mind its an auto. And this is the first time I will be modding a bimmer. Thanks all.

No one makes this car anymore. The government won't allow them, normal people won't buy them. So it's up to us: the freaks, the weirdos, the informed. To buy them, to appreciate them, and most importantly, to drive them.

It may not be a good idea to put that spare on if you ever get a flat. Make sure the tires sizes are the same or you can blow the VC. But you may have already know that.

You bet. I caught the guy after he had sold the 5 speed parts car. He said this was his DD. Any ideas why when the car is cold, my tranny hesitates to shift to 2nd but when the car is warm it shifts fine? I was thinking its either the torque converter or the tranny just needs some heat.

And I believe my assumptions are correct when Im thinking that howl on the freeway is a wheel bearing. I work on motorcycles mainly, so doing full car service/modification is new to me. Im a noob. The last vehicle I worked on was a 95 Bronco XLT. Thanks all.

Didja do a jack test yet?

I have a bad front bearing on my ix... Will do that soon.
(I sure HOPE it's a bearing, it sounds pretty dang bad.)

I didnt do the jack test yet. This weekend I will . Does anyone know if the Bentley manual covers iX's? If not, is there a good iX manual?

Im also hunting for a parts car (5 speed for my swap and an engine for my stand to get rebuilt as a sinister minister of power) within 250 miles of Milwaukee. Let me know if any of you see anything. Thanks again for the warm reception guys!

I may be completely off base, but what about a fluid change to help solve your tranny woes? I havent had an auto car in 5 years, and I didnt have it long enough to do any work on it..

As for the howling, can you hear where its coming from? I have a right rear bearing bad, and its a howling/metal on metal kinda sound.

Whats the E30 game like? Sold at a store near me?

Clean car, good luck with the swap
