because they are made horribly. I know this first hand, one of my jobs was QC in an engine shop and I got to take apart oil filters. they are made of cheap paper and glue that can come apart. it's just not worth it. -

Mobil 1 10w-30 in the summer, 5w-30 in the winter. I'd also use Castrol.
