    quick fuel pump removal help

Hey guys - I'm in the garage.. trying to get fuel pump out of tank for replacement.

I know I need to turn pump assembly counterclockwise.
I'm crossing two large screwdriver for leverage as shown in Bentley manual..

But with all my strength - the damn thing isn't turning enough. Maybe only an eighth of a turn or so.

    Any tips appreciated.

    Fuel sender out?

Put the blade of the screw driver on on of the raised tabs and give it a few light hits. Should spin real easy, Assuming that the fuel sender is removed.

Yea, Make sure that thing in the middle (level sender unit) with the 4 bolts is taken out or else you're gonna bend some shit up

Use a big flat head and hammer. Just make sure you are going the right way

Yeah - sender was first thing out.

Had tried tapping with hammer and flat blade - assembly sort of bounced back to home position. Trying to be gentle at first, then becoming more aggressive as needed..

          I'll keep at 'er.

Ha. That was funny - I drank a beer for Popeye strength, grabbed the screwdriver handles in a different way - and it popped to removal position with little fuss.

            Thanks guys.

Pfft... If I'm not swinging a bfh and breaking something, I'm not really working on the car. Nothing better to decide if you need to replace a part with new.... Once you've destroyed it in the removal process, it makes the decision to replace oh so much easier.

                        Walbro time?
