I in no way feel like he burned down his garage on purpose [which he rents and has no renters insurance!], and I am sorry for his losses. However I found this thread (created in 09 btw, before the chop, 1j, bags etc..) a little ironic.

Man, I still cannot believe the amount of press that car generated. I guess I just never got it. I like E28's and I'm not against Rat Rods, it's just that the 2 don't go together. Still, I respect the work and vision that went into the car, and I certainly feel bad for him for losing a car that he put so much work into...

This was one of my favorite cars ever. It was clean as hell until it was crashed and declared totaled, but instead of parting out the good parts like most of you would have done, he decided to go the crazy rout and get creative with it making possibly the most controversial and talked about car ever made. And for that I have crazy mad respect for Mike and rusty. RIP I will miss this car.
