To help your situation, it is best to drive the car up on ramps and use jack stands accordingly. Always try and find a level floor to use such jackstands, and remember to keep the car both in gear, with the emergency brake, and a wheel chuck. Rock the car back and forth while it's on stands to ensure a safe environment.
