21+ year old body parts, where are they?

where does everybody here buy their body parts for their e30?
considering the fact that these cars are older than your average car out and about on the roads, it makes sense that body parts for e30's are not as readily available as others are.

where do you find your trunks, doors, valences, panels, fenders and all that good stuff, especially in the color of your e30?

i am in need of a drivers side front door for my sedan in brilliantrot but i cannot find any...besides a couple that are white, black, and delphin.

Took me a while to find one in the same color and faded condition. Post a WTB, theres plenty of people parting out cars but shipping something like a door would not be cost effective. I live in an area with a high population of clean E30s so it helps too.

Or you can buy new from Mobile Traditions.

Write down your VIN #. Take your gas cap door to NAPA. They will paintmatch you a pint/quart/etc. They sell PPG paint. Or you can go to damn near any body shop and they will do it for you. I think paintscratch.com sell the shit in spray can with full touchup kits if you don't have access to an LVP gun and compressor.

or you can prep it yourself and just pay a body shop to paint it for you. Then mount the door yourself.

then the newer paint on the repainted door will be shiny and nice and it wouldn't match the other doors and the rest of the body :(

first i need to find a damn door...

lol I never said it'd be perfect. Just telling you your options. Read up on wetsanding and bring that paint back to life. If the paint can't be brought back to life then I wouldn't even give a shit if the car was 4 different colors. The point is, unless you find a golden door at a local junkyard, you will pay out the ass for shipping with a sprinkle of damaging-doom. Source one local in a different color, paint match it, and bring your old paint back to life the best you can. That is your cheapest and most ideal option. Otherwise, take your chances with shipping and find one in pristine condition. A good source is Bavarian Recycling. Majority of what they sell is used parts for BMW's in top notch condition.

Most people just buy used. But, schmiedmann's has some repo parts such as fenders.

Finding body parts is easy in the Northwest. Finding them in your color to avoid some painting, much harder.

You need to start by compounding the paint on the good panels. You would be amazed at how well brilliantrot will come back when polished.

alright i decided that im going to just find a door of any color and just repaint it.
i found one on ebay for 90 dollars, it's black and the shipping is also 90.

                          180 for a door...too much?

here's a picture of the damage

would it be possible to maybe cut off the window frame portion of the door and weld a new one on there? the door itself is not bent. the framing around the top of the window is the culprit. the top of the door is bent upwards so that it is hitting the chrome trim on the actual car itself, rendering the door unable to be closed.

the door latches are still lined up so if i were to chop off the top of the door (frame that surrounds the glass window on top) , the door would close. nothing else is bent, except for the top of the frame as you can see in the picture. any ideas on what i should do? possible cut and weld? no?

                              Oh man.

No, get a new door. Then contact myself or John Parker. His detail shop is right next to an AMAZING body/paint shop. Have them paint the door in the same color and then have Parker polish out the car. It'll be close enough that you'll be happy and your door wont be fucked up anymore.

In the mean time, bend the door back as best you can to get it drivable.
