I'm thinking about picking up a welder... i'm torn between el cheapo TIG (which i've heard good reviews about) or a mid-range MIG, which would you guys choose?

There are lots of applications like that. Allow the exhaust to have a little flex in it.

Nothing huge, i will probably mainly want to weld steel/stainless steel for exhaust work or sheet metal for body work.

This is a little different than most of what has been posted previously. It is a cuff / bracelet i made for my girl a few years ago. It is a little scratched up cause she wears it a lot and is prob due for some 1200 grit and another polish. I made it out of a sheet of Titanium and a hammer.

I have both a hobart mig welder and a smaller miller inverter tig and I tend to use the mig more often. Ideally it'll be nice to have both but if I had to choose one, id choose a nice mig setup. Possibly even a pulse mig setup if you can afford one. My tig welder does produce better looking welds, but it definitely takes longer.

I vote that you should buy yourself a nice mig welder, and also buy yourself the cheaper harbor freight inverter tig to try out to see whether or not you like tigging. They're cheap and they actually aren't all that bad.

I own a TIG welder. (Syncrowave 200) my opinion on mig vs Tig, your kinda limited on what you can do with a mig. If you need to weld small work it maybe harder with a mig also Tig is much cleaner,no spatter,you can weld a wider range of base metals much easier from mag,stainless, tool steel, ALU.

Thanks for the input guys. I was actually considering a cheapo Harbor Freight or other Chinese TIG since I've been reading reviews saying that they are actually pretty decent for the money. I guess I'll have to see how much money is in the budget after the holidays, don't have enough money, or organs, to drop on a Miller TIG welder.
